Somewhere between fine and not
Lovely for a couple of nights away, quiet and personal. Clean and tidy throughout the stay.
The hot water failed on the last morning and was still off when we left. No kettle in the room, which for a British guest is practically a design flaw.

Better than the photographs
The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week. For Hanoi, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties.

Nothing worked as advertised
Milo on the desk was kind about it, which is more than the place deserves.
Nobody was on the desk for long stretches, so we stood in the lobby with my rucksack for ten minutes at check-in. Wifi dropped out constantly, which mattered because I was working.

Ten out of ten for Ba Dinh
The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are. Check-in was quick and human, and they remembered our names for the rest of the stay.
Only that we had to leave.

Do not book this
The bed itself was comfortable. Everything around it was not.
The bed linen was stained. I asked for it to be changed and waited until nearly nine that night. Building work started at half past six every morning and nobody mentioned it when I booked. I was given a different room from the one I booked, smaller and facing the bins, with no adjustment to the price. The heating did not work properly for the first five nights and the fix took until the second day.

Strong on location and staff
The terrace is small but nobody else seems to use it, so it became ours. Fast, stable wifi in the room rather than only in the lobby, which is rarer than it should be. Fifteen rooms, one very good coffee machine and a courtyard nobody talks in above a murmur.
Parking nearby is expensive, though that is Hanoi rather than the hotel.
