Reliable rather than exciting
Grace at the desk was the standout - patient and genuinely useful. Our taxi driver could not find the entrance and drove past it twice, so save the map pin.
The air conditioning rattled on the third night; maintenance swapped a part the next morning.

The one to book in Thonglor
Check-in was quick and human, and they remembered my names for the rest of the stay. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Thonglor late at night. The courtyard rooms hear nothing but pigeons, which is the whole point.
Waiting ten seconds for the lift each time adds up when you go back for a jumper.

Good from check-in onwards
Short version: yes. I booked for three nights and extended to five, which tells you what I thought of the price. Thonglor has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in December is a small luxury that I noticed every morning.
A second bedside lamp and a couple more sockets would finish the room off.

Astonishingly quiet for somewhere this central - we never heard the street once. No faff with the room: dark, cool and quiet by ten. Four of us across two rooms on the same corridor, which they arranged without being asked.

Two nights, and two would have been plenty; the room was at least clean when I arrived.
The hot water failed on the second morning and was still off when I left.

Needs some attention
Two nights, and two would have been plenty. Thonglor is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything. Charming small hotel, and the old terrazzo floor lifts it above the usual.
The restaurant is fine but you would not choose it if you were not already staying there. Towels are changed only on request, which is sensible but was not explained.
