6.9Would look elsewhere next time
Arrowtown is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything; the dorm was fine and the showers were hot in the morning, which is the real test.
Street parking is free after eleven and impossible before it. The shower head is fixed high on the wall and cannot be angled.

3.1Ruined two days of Queenstown
It is close to Skyline Gondola, and that is the whole of the good news.
Two of me, three nights, and almost nothing went smoothly. There was mould in the corner of the bathroom ceiling and the extractor did not work. The Private Double Room had not been cleaned properly: hair in the shower tray and dust along every skirting board.

6.5Needs some attention
Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced. The terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon. Good position overall, and we walked most places rather than paying for cabs.
The Bed in 8-bed mixed dorm is smaller than the photographs suggest - two open cases will not fit on the floor.

Three rooms on the same floor, which saved a lot of shouting up stairwells.
Stairs only to the sixth floor, which was fine for us but would not suit everyone. The extractor does not cope, so the mirror is useless after the first shower.

They keep a jar of sweets by the lift that nobody admits to eating from. Check-in was quick and human, and they remembered my names for the rest of the stay. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Arrowtown late at night. Hard to beat the position: The Remarkables one way, the market the other, and no need for a taxi all week.
One person on the desk at ten in the evening means a queue when the airport bus arrives.

6.0Not as described
The bed itself was comfortable enough.
The bathroom is clean but the fittings belong to a previous decade. Storage is two hangers and a shelf, so I lived out of the bags.
