Falls short of the description
Wifi was quick enough for email, maps and an evening of streaming. Sultanahmet is a sensible base, a few streets back from the crowds and still close to everything.
The hot water failed on the first morning and was still off when I left. No full-length mirror anywhere in the Double Room with Garden View.

Better in the photos
Wanted to like it more than we did. Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing. The owners are kind and the breakfast is homemade, which counts for a lot.
The car park is a six-minute walk and costs more per night than we expected.

Better than the street suggests
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right.
Shower pressure drops off when the floor is busy at about six.

Charming and spotless
Paulo sorted a late checkout on the last day without me even having to push for it. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Sultanahmet late at night.
The walk back from Grand Bazaar is all uphill, which I had not thought about.

Good location, mixed stay
Easy place to stay on your own, and the area is fine to walk at night. The Twin Room is well organised and everything has somewhere to go. I slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten - I forgot it was a public holiday and they sorted me a table anyway.
Checkout is eleven and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Would look elsewhere next time
Location is the strong point - five minutes to Blue Mosque and a metro stop close by. Clean bed linen, clean towels, clean floors. That is the main thing. The lift has one of those inner doors you have to pull shut, which the children opposite treated as the highlight of their week.
There is a bar on the corner that empties out noisily on a Monday night. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom except the edge of the basin.
