Quieter than the average hostel, with a separate lounge for people who want to read. Communal kitchen makes the difference on a longer stay. Reception can store bags for days, not hours, which helps between trains.

Comfortable and well placed
Borrowed the bikes on the first morning and barely used public transport after that. Old French Quarter has that mix of locals and visitors that makes a place feel alive rather than staged. Staff run things properly - keycard on the dorm door, quiet hours actually enforced.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the third floor first thing.

Faultless from start to finish
Would come back tomorrow. The Bed in 8-bed mixed dorm is bigger than the photographs suggest and cleverly laid out. Christmas markets two streets away and the smell of them drifting up to the window. Travelling on my own, I never felt uneasy walking back into Old French Quarter late at night.
That we booked only two nights.

Location good, room less so
Mixed feelings about this one. Connection was good enough to work from for a morning. Clean bathroom, fresh towels daily, nothing to complain about. The kettle was already descaled, which is the kind of detail that tells you how a place is run.
Blackout blinds would make a difference in November, when it is bright by eight. The radiator clanked from about six every morning.

Would look elsewhere next time
Kitchen is well enough equipped for simple cooking. The rate held steady when we added a night, which we appreciated. Bag storage on the last day was useful. The dorm was fine and the showers were hot in the morning, which is the real test.
It needs a refurbishment rather than another coat of paint, and the price has not caught up with that. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom except the edge of the basin.

Decent, with reservations
They keep a pillow menu at reception and actually bring what you ask for. Sociable without being a party hostel, and the bunks are sturdy. Connection was good enough to work from for a morning.
Hot water was slow to arrive on the second floor first thing. There is construction across the street that starts at quarter past seven, so bring earplugs.

Good value for Old French Quarter
The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that. We ended up in the same corner cafe three mornings running, which tells you something about Old French Quarter.
The last two hundred metres are steep and cobbled - not a problem, just plan for it.
