Wanted to like it more
Not a disaster, just not what we expected. Three rooms on the same floor, which saved a lot of shouting up stairwells. We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten; the terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon.
Dust on the top of the wardrobe and behind the door, which we noticed on the second day.

Clean and quiet, close to everything
The view from the balcony is not a marketing photograph - it is genuinely that. Nobody made me feel odd about eating alone, and the desk checked I had got back on the wet night.
The keycards demagnetised twice and I had to go back down to the desk.

I would ask for your money back
The building is beautiful from the outside.
The photographs and the reality are not the same building. Wifi dropped out constantly, which mattered because I was working. We were charged a cleaning fee that was not in the booking and had to argue to get it back.

Ask for a room at the back
The common room does that rare thing of being sociable without being loud at two in the morning. We arrived hours early and they took the cases without a fuss, then messaged when the room was ready.
Checkout is eleven and a late one costs about as much as another night's breakfast.

Right for a short stay
I am fussy about where I sleep. The desk kept an eye out for me without making a thing of it.
A bottle of water in the room costs what a bottle of wine costs on the corner.

As good as Buenos Aires gets
Someone has planted herbs in pots by the door and you are clearly meant to use them. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in October is a small luxury that I noticed every morning. Coffee on the balcony before breakfast, watching Belgrano wake up. Worth the upgrade.
