Decent, with reservations
The dorm was fine and the showers were hot in the morning, which is the real test. Connection was good enough to work from for a morning. The desk is staffed at night, which mattered for our late arrival.

Quiet room, great coffee
Right, so. For Galle, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them. Plenty of storage in the Bed in 4-bed dorm with bathroom, which sounds dull until you have unpacked for a fortnight.
Nothing we could fault.

Genuinely special
Booked this on a whim and glad we did. Two nights in and we were sleeping through until eight, which never happens for us. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage.

Poor value in Unawatuna
The bed itself was comfortable enough.
The room I was given was not the one I booked and it took two conversations to be moved. The air conditioning rattled on the last night; maintenance swapped a part the next morning.

Half worked, half didn't
Wanted to like it more than we did - good base for a few nights: clean dorm, big lockers, decent kitchen. Location is the strong point - five minutes to Stilt fishermen and a metro stop close by. They keep a pillow menu at reception and actually bring what you ask for. The Bed in 4-bed dorm with bathroom is well organised and everything has somewhere to go.
It is a good seven minutes from the nearest tram stop, further than the listing suggests.

Comfortable beds, good coffee
Not a mark anywhere, and the room smelled of nothing at all, which is exactly right. Sat on the terrace with a glass of wine watching the light go off the rooftops. That is the memory. Underfloor heating in the bathroom in November is a small luxury that I noticed every morning. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage.
The shower takes a good minute to warm up, which adds up over four days.
