Would think twice
Fine, with caveats. Reception were helpful when we needed a doctor's address, which we appreciated - the house is big enough for a group and the pool is genuinely private. We slept well: the room is dark, cool and quiet after ten.
A bottle of water in the room costs what a bottle of wine costs on the corner. Parking nearby is expensive, though that is Zanzibar rather than the hotel.

Half worked, half didn't
Mixed feelings about this one. The house is big enough for a group and the pool is genuinely private. The terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon.
The heating did not work properly for the first four nights and the fix took until the first day.

Ask for a room at the back
Straight to it: the location is the thing. Sitting in the hot tub with steam coming off it and nothing but stars overhead - hard to top. Private pool meant six of us could spread out without booking loungers at dawn.
There is no fridge in the room, so the wine we bought stayed warm.

Practical rather than charming
The house is big enough for a group and the pool is genuinely private. Ola at the desk was the standout - patient and genuinely useful.
We were reminded about the half past nine checkout twice on the Sunday, which felt unnecessary.

The one to book in Nungwi
Spotless, including the places nobody checks - skirting boards, the kettle, under the bed. Terrace dinners with the pool lights on and nobody else within earshot. Somebody had left a shelf of paperbacks by the window and I got through two of them. For Zanzibar, this is a properly central spot without the coach parties.
We were reminded about the ten checkout twice on the Tuesday, which felt unnecessary.

Faultless from start to finish
The stairs creak in a way that is either charming or annoying depending on how tired you are. The cook came on the Saturday and did a whole table of local dishes for less than a restaurant would charge. Spot on for a first visit - you can walk out of the door and start.
Nothing that would stop us booking again tomorrow.
