Everything we hoped for
The common room does that rare thing of being sociable without being loud at two in the morning. The wifi held up through a two-hour video call without a single drop.

Clean and central, not much else
We are fussy about where we sleep. Plenty of places to eat within a short walk, most of them reasonably priced. Fair value for Dublin prices, particularly in high season. Kitchen is well enough equipped for simple cooking. The dorm was fine and the showers were hot in the morning, which is the real test.
The furniture is dated and the corridors could do with a repaint.

Not for us
Some of this worked, some of it did not. The terrace is a good place to sit with a book in the late afternoon.
It needs a refurbishment rather than another coat of paint, and the price has not caught up with that. The bunk ladder is loose and wakes the whole room.

Hard to improve on
Family dinner in the kitchen on Wednesday for almost nothing and I met half the hostel. The Private Double Room is bigger than the photographs suggest and cleverly laid out.

Better than the photographs
Worth every penny, and we do not say that often. I left a charger behind and it arrived at home nine days later, no charge for the postage.
